Azerbaijan, Morocco strengthen defence ties, agree on military cooperation PHOTO
Azerbaijan’s Defence Minister, Colonel-General Zakir Hasanov, is currently on an official visit to Morocco at the invitation of Morocco's Minister of National Defence Administration, Abdellatif Loudiyi.
During the visit, General Hasanov met with his Moroccan counterpart and expressed his appreciation for the invitation to the "Moroccan Air Show 2024," Caliber.Az reports referring to the Defence Ministry.
The two ministers discussed prospects for developing military and technical cooperation between Azerbaijan and Morocco, exchanging views on a range of topics of mutual interest.
At the conclusion of the meeting, Hasanov and Loudiyi signed the "Defence Cooperation Agreement" between the governments of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Kingdom of Morocco, marking a new chapter in military collaboration between the two nations.
Since establishing diplomatic relations in 1992, Morocco and Azerbaijan have maintained a warm and cooperative partnership, marked by mutual support across various international platforms. Both nations are members of the Non-Aligned Movement and the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), fostering unity and cooperation among Muslim-majority countries.
On September 28, 2007, the intergovernmental commission for bilateral cooperation between Azerbaijan and Morocco was set up.
Their collaboration spans trade, culture, and politics, with active cultural exchanges that promote deeper understanding and cooperation.
Through educational initiatives, art exhibitions, and tourism promotion, they continue to strengthen their relationship, underscoring a shared commitment to support and partnership.
