Azerbaijan not to sit idly while Armenia arms itself, Aygün Attar warns Paylan

The 30-year occupation of Azerbaijani lands has taught Armenia to think 30 times before taking any steps against Azerbaijan, said Aygün Attar, Chairperson of the Turkish-Azerbaijani Friendship, Cooperation, and Solidarity Foundation.

She made the statement while commenting on remarks about Azerbaijan by a Turkish politician of Armenian origin and former MP from the Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP), Garo Paylan, Caliber.Az reports via local media.

“Garo was once a columnist for the newspaper Agos, and later became a member of parliament. He now lives comfortably on taxes deducted from our salaries. As a member of the Turkish parliament, he worked against Türkiye and the Turkic world both domestically and abroad. For his active diaspora activities, he was awarded a medal by former Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan, whose hands are stained with the blood of Khojaly victims,” Attar said.

According to her, Paylan’s recent statement is far from logical.

“So, Armenia will arm itself, while Azerbaijan should sit idly by and wait for a hostile country to build up its power? Do you think we don’t understand the schemes being plotted against Azerbaijan and Türkiye under the guise of normalization? The Azerbaijani people and state are well aware of your intentions. I urge Paylan to come to his senses,” Attar emphasized.

Earlier, Garo Paylan claimed that Armenia, under the pretext of normalization with Azerbaijan, is buying time and purchasing weapons from France and the U.S. Later, the politician shared a post on social media attempting to veil his attacks on Azerbaijan, claiming that his words were distorted by the media.
