Azerbaijan, Oman discuss bilateral ties, regional cooperation
The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan, Jeyhun Bayramov, held a meeting with the Deputy Foreign Minister of the Sultanate of Oman, Sheikh Khalifa Ali Issa Al Harthi, to discuss the expansion of bilateral relations and regional cooperation.
During the meeting, the officials reviewed Azerbaijan-Oman collaboration across key sectors, including trade, energy security, tourism, and education. They also exchanged views on regional and international security matters. Both sides emphasised the significance of ongoing political consultations and high-level engagements in strengthening ties, noting that the establishment of Azerbaijan’s Embassy in Oman has played a pivotal role in advancing diplomatic relations, Caliber.Az reports, citing the Azerbaijan Foreign Minister.
Minister Bayramov highlighted Azerbaijan’s initiatives in green energy, transportation, and communications, exploring potential joint projects with Oman in these sectors. The discussion also touched upon cooperation within international organisations such as the United Nations, the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation, and the Non-Aligned Movement.
Azerbaijan’s role as the host of the 29th session of the UN Climate Change Conference (COP29) was commended, with both sides recognising new opportunities for collaboration in climate action and sustainability efforts.
In addition to the ministerial meeting, political consultations between the foreign ministries of Azerbaijan and Oman were held the same day. Azerbaijan was represented by Deputy Foreign Minister Yalchin Rafiyev, while Oman’s delegation was led by Deputy Foreign Minister Sheikh Khalifa Ali Issa Al Harthi.
The discussions underscored the mutual commitment to strengthening Azerbaijan-Oman relations and expanding cooperation across various domains.
