Azerbaijan pledges full cooperation with Ethiopia ahead of COP32 PHOTO
Baku and Addis Ababa have agreed to strengthen collaboration in preparation for the upcoming UN Climate Change Conference, COP32, scheduled to be hosted by Ethiopia in 2027.
The agreement emerged during a meeting between Samir Nuriyev, Head of the Presidential Administration of Azerbaijan, and Gedion Timothewos Hessebon, Ethiopia’s Foreign Minister, President-Designate of COP32, Caliber.Az reports per local media.
Nuriyev affirmed Azerbaijan’s readiness for comprehensive cooperation with Ethiopia on COP32, highlighting Baku’s experience in successfully organizing COP29 under President Ilham Aliyev. “Azerbaijan carried out extensive organizational, logistical, substantive, and communication work, achieving several historic decisions,” he said.
Praising Azerbaijan’s efforts, Hessebon noted that COP29 had left a meaningful legacy. He expressed Ethiopia’s interest in partnering with Azerbaijan for COP32 and thanked Baku for its willingness to provide organizational, logistical, and substantive support.
The officials also discussed preparations for the 13th session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13), which is set to take place in Azerbaijan in May 2026, exchanging views on coordination and logistical arrangements for the event.
