Azerbaijan, Portugal exchange views on economic cooperation PHOTO

01 December 2023 09:43

During his working visit to Northern Macedonia, Jeyhun Bayramov, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, held a meeting with his Portuguese counterpart Joao Gomis Cravinho.

Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry told Report that the two ministers discussed potential areas of collaboration on both bilateral and multilateral platforms, the regional situation, and the peace process between Azerbaijan and Armenia.

Both sides expressed the significance they place on Azerbaijani-Portuguese relations and highlighted the importance of political dialogue, including mutual visits.

The ministers exchanged views on renewable energy and energy transition as a new direction for Azerbaijani-Portuguese economic cooperation, as well as on transport, tourism, and other issues.

Minister Jeyhun Bayramov invited Portuguese companies to participate in renewable energy projects in Azerbaijan.

During the meeting, Jeyhun Bayramov provided his counterpart with a detailed account of military-political provocations in the post-conflict period. He discussed the threat posed by Armenian illegal armed formations in the Karabakh region of Azerbaijan, the reasons behind the anti-terrorist measures implemented by Azerbaijan, and the current situation in the region after these measures. Both sides stressed the importance of avoiding provocative actions that hinder the establishment of peace and security in the region and refraining from statements in support of appeals against the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Azerbaijan.

Jeyhun Bayramov expressed hope that Armenia will positively assess the historic opportunities for signing a peace agreement, as real chances for such an agreement have emerged after the full restoration of Azerbaijan's sovereignty.

Lastly, the ministers discussed other matters of mutual interest, including bilateral, regional, and international issues.
