Azerbaijan proves capability of achieving all goals As opposed to Macron unable of taking decisive actions
Caliber.Az has already reported that on January 23-24, the first congress of the International Front for Decolonization took place in New Caledonia, bringing together representatives from territories colonized by France.
The parliamentarians, political party leaders, and heads of non-governmental organisations and social movements who are fighting for the independence of New Caledonia, French Polynesia, Martinique, Guadeloupe, French Guiana, and Corsica attended the congress. Paris did its best to prevent the participation of Azerbaijani representatives in this event—members of the Baku Initiative Group (BIG) were not granted visas to attend the congress. However, the BIG participated in the event online, and once again, the Azerbaijani flag was raised in New Caledonia.
As expected, this led to an hysterical reaction by several local politicians, who are puppets of Paris. One such voice came from Philippe Blaise, a former banker who founded the Caledonian Republican Movement in 2011. He had previously openly opposed flying of the Kanak flag alongside the French tricolor on public buildings in the capital of New Caledonia. He advocates for adopting a new unified flag for the island, a proposal that clearly does not sit well with many representatives of New Caledonia, who justifiably view Blaise as an opportunist.
This individual has decided to claim that Azerbaijan has just crossed a new red line. He also called head of the Baku Initiative Group (BIG) Abbas Abbasov a terrorist, which is not just a monstrous and offensive lie but also a sign of this man's weakness, following his Parisian handlers’ instructions. In fact, addressing them, he claimed that there was a real declaration of war, calling France to a decisive and firm response.
Sonia Backès also spoke out. She served as Secretary of State for Citizenship in Paris from 2022 to 2023, and last year, she became the President of the Assembly of the Southern Province of New Caledonia. This lady is also under the guidance of the French leadership.
That is why, during the first congress of the International Front for Decolonization, which unites representatives of territories colonized by France, she opposes it. She is so vehement in her opposition that she even addresses French Minister for Overseas Territories, Manuel Valls. By the way, it’s worth taking a closer look at this lady. It’s enough to mention that her father was closely aligned with the ideas of Jacques Lafleur, an activist for New Caledonia's independence movement.
Therefore, it is, to say the least, surprising to see Madame Backès opposing those who support the idea of Caledonia's independence. French media have already caught this lady fabricating a convenient biography, particularly claiming a non-existent estrangement from her mother to achieve political goals. Of course, such a character can be expected to do whatever Paris desires. Paris once again made a fool of itself by attempting to threaten Azerbaijan with what could almost be called a declaration of war. I would like to see how France, led by coward President Emmanuel Macron, will respond to these provocative calls. Why do I call Macron coward?
I remember how he mumbled and kept repeating the same words after Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced the start of Russia's full-scale invasion. Macron is not someone capable of taking decisive actions. He is just a schemer trying to suppress the desire for freedom among the inhabitants of France's overseas territories. But they have found support in Azerbaijan. This is why head of the BIG Abbas Abbasov in his speech reminded everyone that Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev openly condemned the crimes committed against the Kanaks and expressed support for the colonized regions. As a sign of gratitude, the Kanaks once again raised the Azerbaijani flag in the capital, Nouméa.
It was exactly a gesture of gratitude, nothing more. There are a few simple facts to those heralds of Paris who try to accuse Azerbaijan of anything. The International Front for the Liberation of the French colonies was established in Baku by representatives of French colonies with the support of the Baku Initiative Group in July 2024. Whereas, on January 12, 1985, prominent members of the Kanak and Socialist National Liberation Front (FLNKS), Eloy Machoro and Marcel Nonnaro, were killed by French military forces. This day has become a symbol of remembrance and the struggle for independence in New Caledonia.
The demands for New Caledonian independence, along with the brutal crackdown on those who actively advocated for it, were voiced even when Azerbaijan was part of the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics (USSR). This fact is enough to understand how absurd and pitiful the accusations against Azerbaijan from various French politicians are. It would be worth reminding them of how France supported Armenia, essentially opposing Azerbaijan's territorial integrity and interfering in Azerbaijan’s internal affairs. The restoration of Azerbaijan's sovereignty and territorial integrity was an internal matter for Azerbaijan.
We remember how Macron, who calls Armenia France's fraternal country, repeatedly called President Aliyev during the 44-day second Karabakh war, how he tried to halt the victorious advance of the Azerbaijani army, how he threatened Azerbaijan, and how he spread falsehoods from Armenian propaganda.
We also remember how the French Senate, immediately after the 44-day war, passed a resolution recognizing the independence of the so-called Artsakh. This was a provocation, a shameful and immoral interference in Azerbaijan's internal affairs. The French Senate's resolution was ultimately nullified after Azerbaijan conducted a one-day counter-terrorism operation in the Karabakh region.
But how did France act after Azerbaijan fully restored its sovereignty and territorial integrity? It attempted to secure condemnation of Azerbaijan! Moreover, this attempt was made even within the UN. Its resolutions calling for the withdrawal of all illegal Armenian armed formations were not implemented by Yerevan. But that’s not all. France continues providing Armenia with comprehensive political and military support, encouraging Armenian revanchism. The attempts by French politicians to accuse Azerbaijan of anything seem more like a poorly timed joke. Azerbaijan has proven that it is capable of achieving all the goals it sets for itself.
The same will be true when it comes to supporting forces advocating for decolonization. After all, Azerbaijan itself fought for this, achieving its independence with the collapse of the USSR. That is why we understand and empathize with the aspirations of the people of New Caledonia, French Polynesia, Martinique, Guadeloupe, French Guiana, and Corsica.
