Azerbaijan Railways CJSC (ADY), a subsidiary of AZCON Holding, is spotlighting its strategic role in the East-West transport network at the 'Transport Logistic 2025' exhibition in Munich, Germany, which runs from June 2 to 5.

ADY is exhibiting with a dedicated stand at the high-profile mobility trade fair, showcasing its freight operations across international corridors, infrastructure development projects in Karabakh and East Zangezur, and the Port of Baku, Caliber.Az reports.

The company is also highlighting its digital innovations and sustainability initiatives.

On the sidelines of the event, ADY Chairman Rovshan Rustamov held a series of high-level meetings with executives from major global transport and logistics firms.

During talks with Yang Bin, President of China Railway Container Transport Corp. (CRCT), both sides underscored the importance of recent agreements signed during Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev’s April visit to China. Discussions centred on advancing the Belt and Road Initiative and strengthening international multimodal freight routes.

The two officials also explored increasing the number of container block trains running through the Middle Corridor—a key transit route linking China and Europe via Central Asia and the South Caucasus—and introducing a digital cargo tracking platform covering shipments from China to the Black Sea.

CRCT’s involvement in the joint venture “Middle Corridor Multimodal Ltd.,” alongside the railway authorities of Azerbaijan, Georgia, and Kazakhstan, was described as a significant boost to the corridor’s growing logistics potential.

Rustamov also met with Wansu Dong, CEO of Beijing Trans Eurasia International Logistics, to discuss expanding cooperation on rail freight from China to Europe and back. Both sides reviewed prospects for boosting cargo volumes through the Middle Corridor over the coming months.

Further meetings with Boris Balev, Director General of Bulgaria’s Burgas Port, and senior representatives from Germany’s HHLA International GmbH focused on enhancing port-to-port collaboration to optimise cargo flows across the region.

In separate talks with Germany’s Rhenus Group and Austria’s ÖBB Rail Cargo Group, Rustamov discussed opportunities for joint efforts to improve freight connectivity along the China–Europe–China route via Azerbaijan.

Throughout the discussions, Rustamov reiterated Azerbaijan’s growing role as a vital transit hub in the East-West corridor, highlighting the country’s strategic assets, including the Baku–Tbilisi–Kars railway, which connects the Caspian region with Europe.
