The Azerbaijani embassy in Georgia has held several events in connection with the 32nd anniversary of the Khojaly genocide.
Various commemorative events are held in Georgia’s capital Tbilisi and in the Georgian regions every year. The embassy acts as an organiser or renders support to the community members who initiated them, according to Azertac.
One of such events was organised at the Juma Mosque in Tbilisi on February 23.
The prayers were read for the repose of the souls of the victims of the Khojaly tragedy and Azerbaijani martyrs in the mosque.
Friday prayers were performed after the sermon delivered by Mufti of the Georgian Muslim Board Etibar Eminov.
Not only Azerbaijanis living in Georgia, but also about 1,000 Muslims from Türkiye, Pakistan, Iran, Afghanistan, India, Malaysia, Kazakhstan, Russia, Uzbekistan, Bangladesh and other countries living, working and studying in Georgia attended the Friday prayer.
The embassy staff, imams (prayer leaders of a mosque) and Azerbaijani journalists informed foreign students about the Khojaly genocide.
After Friday prayer, ehsan (feast) was given and assistance was rendered to those in need through the support and initiative of the Azerbaijani embassy in Georgia.
