Azerbaijani and Russian officials held the inaugural meeting of their joint working group on the Caspian Sea’s declining water levels during the 11th Nevsky International Ecological Congress, where they discussed a draft Joint Monitoring Programme, implementation mechanisms, and coordinated next steps.
Led by Deputy Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources Rauf Hajiyev, the Azerbaijani delegation engaged in discussions aimed at strengthening regional cooperation in environmental monitoring and climate response, Caliber.Az reports.
The meeting marked a significant step in implementing the environmental cooperation agreements reached during a ministerial gathering in Baku in December 2024. Participants also addressed broader concerns such as climate change and emphasised the importance of enhancing transboundary environmental collaboration.
