17 July 2026 16:43

The foreign ministries of Azerbaijan and Russia have signed a bilateral consultation plan for the 2026–2027 period following diplomatic talks in Moscow on Friday, July 17.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov announced the agreement after hosting his Azerbaijani counterpart, Jeyhun Bayramov, characterising the discussions between the two delegations as both useful and trusting.

"We noted the steady development of our relations in the spirit of friendship, good-neighbourliness, the declaration on allied interaction <...> We noted the regular dialogue between Baku and Moscow at the highest level," Lavrov stated.

The newly signed protocol codifies structured institutional dialogue between Moscow and Baku over the next two years, building upon the baseline established by the existing bilateral declaration on allied interaction.
