Azerbaijan's anti-terrorist measures in Karabakh removed major obstacle to signing peace treaty Azerbaijani FM talks to US Department of State rep
Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov received US Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs Joshua Huck on October 20.
The Foreign Ministry told Caliber.Az that at the meeting the sides discussed issues of cooperation between Azerbaijan and the US, as well as the regional situation in the post-conflict period, and prospects of the process of normalisation of relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia.
Having informed the interlocutor in detail about the situation in the region, Jeyhun Bayramov emphasised the importance of the withdrawal of Armenian armed forces and dissolution of the separatist regime, which were the main sources of threat. He noted that this became possible as a result of Azerbaijan's anti-terrorist measures. The minister added that in this way one of the biggest obstacles to the signing of the peace treaty between Azerbaijan and Armenia and the process of reintegration of people of Armenian origin living in the Karabakh region has been removed.
Jeyhun Bayramov said that Azerbaijan, as always, is determined to promote the peace agenda and stressed the importance of the constructive position of the international community in this context.
During the meeting, the sides exchanged views on bilateral and multilateral issues of mutual interest.
