Azerbaijan’s defence, digital ministries deepen cooperation on cybersecurity, AI
Representatives of Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Defence and Ministry of Digital Development and Transport have discussed cooperation in digitalisation, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity and innovation.
The meeting, hosted by the Innovation and Digital Development Agency, focused on ongoing work in these areas and prospects for expanding cooperation between the two ministries, Caliber.Az reports per the Defence Ministry.
The sides highlighted the importance of accelerating Azerbaijan’s digital transformation, strengthening cooperation among state institutions in information security and cybersecurity, and developing qualified specialists.
The measures discussed are being implemented in line with state policy pursued under the leadership of President of Azerbaijan and Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces Ilham Aliyev, and are aimed at meeting the objectives outlined in the “Digital Development Acceleration Action Plan for 2026-2028”.
The meeting also referred to discussions held at the Digital Development Council meeting in June 2026, chaired by First Vice-President of Azerbaijan Mehriban Aliyeva. The council reviewed progress under the Action Plan, achieved results and priority tasks for the coming years.
Officials stressed that strengthening institutional cooperation among state bodies in cybersecurity and developing human capital remain key priorities.
The meeting noted that the Azerbaijan Cybersecurity Center, operating under the Innovation and Digital Development Agency, regularly provides professional courses and training in information security and cybersecurity for personnel of the Defence Ministry.
The initiative was described as contributing to improving servicemen’s expertise, enhancing their knowledge and skills in responding to modern cyber threats, and further strengthening cooperation between state institutions.
