Azerbaijan’s FM meets US under secretary to discuss South Caucasus peace
On November 19, Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov received U.S. Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs Allison Hooker in Baku.
During the meeting, the officials engaged in a comprehensive exchange of views on the current state and future prospects of Azerbaijan–U.S. bilateral cooperation, the Azerbaijan–Armenia peace process, and regional and global security, Caliber.Az reports per the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Both sides welcomed the agreements reached during the historic meeting in Washington on August 8 and underlined the importance of continued joint efforts to strengthen the strategic partnership between the two countries.
The officials emphasised the significance of enhancing cooperation in regional stability, energy security, and the expansion of transport corridors. In this context, Minister Bayramov highlighted Baku’s interest in accelerating the implementation of the “Trump Route” project, to be realised by the United States, which aims to ensure seamless connectivity between the main part of Azerbaijan and its Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic.
The discussion also covered the work of the Azerbaijan–U.S. Strategic Working Group, established to prepare the Strategic Partnership Charter, as well as the regional peace agenda in the South Caucasus and priorities for the forthcoming period across bilateral and multilateral platforms.
Minister Bayramov briefed his interlocutor on Azerbaijan’s steps within the normalisation process, including post-conflict reconstruction and development efforts.
The meeting concluded with an exchange of views on developments in the Middle East and other regional matters of mutual interest.
