Azerbaijan’s Parliament speaker attends inauguration of Grand Egyptian Museum PHOTO

Speaker of the Milli Majlis (Parliament) of Azerbaijan, Sahiba Gafarova, took part in the opening ceremony of the Grand Egyptian Museum during her working visit to Egypt, the Parliament’s press service has stated. 

The event, attended by heads of state, government, and parliaments from various countries, featured a message from Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi to the participants, Caliber.Az reports per local media.

Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly also delivered a welcoming speech.

The opening ceremony continued with a cultural program showcasing Egyptian art, followed by an exhibition of the museum’s most iconic artefacts. 

Notably, the museum houses exhibits from various periods of Egyptian civilisation, with more than 100,000 artefacts on display.
