Azerbaijan's State Security Service exposes Iranian spy network VIDEO

Complex investigative measures aimed at suppressing the intelligence-subversive activities carried out by the Islamic Republic of Iran's special services in relation to Azerbaijan and exposure of the spy network are underway.

Press service of State Security Service told Caliber.Az that as a result of the measures taken it was established that Asgarov Zahir Fakhreddin oglu, working as a captain of a ship in Caspian Sea Oil Fleet, during his religious studies in Qom city of Iran in exchange for funds was involved in secret cooperation with representatives of intelligence services of the mentioned country. At their request, he had collected information on companies and missions of foreign states operating in our country, on the place and time of the exercises of the Caspian Sea military forces, on cargoes transported to oil platforms for use against the sovereignty and defensive capacity of the Republic of Azerbaijan. Zahir Asgarov committed high treason by espionage providing the mentioned information by mobile phone, as well as directly during meetings with these persons in Iran.

Another investigation revealed that Rasulov Elnur Akif oglu, while in Iran in 2018 for treatment, concluded a secret cooperation agreement there with representatives of the special services of this country, who presented themselves under the names "Meise" and "Doctor". Elnur Rasulov, together with his relative Rasulov Arif Amrah oglu, whom he engaged first to direct and then to secret cooperation while carrying out assignments in the Garadagh district of Baku in exchange for payment in various amounts, collected data on unmanned aerial vehicles belonging to the Ministry of Defence and the State Border Service, tanks stored at airports and various military equipment located on this territory, as well as equipment presented at the Teknofest Aerospace and Technology Festival in Baku. He sent photos and videos of strategic and military facilities, anti-aircraft missile systems, as well as other radar controls located in the Salyan and Fuzuli districts to a representative of the special service via the WhatsApp messaging system.

At the same time, it was established that another citizen of Azerbaijan, Bakhtiyar Rafig oglu Aghazadeh, went to the Islamic Republic of Iran to receive religious education and, while there, was involved in secret cooperation by the Iranian intelligence services in exchange for receiving funds.

On instructions of the Iranian special services he collected and handed over to them information about diplomatic missions of foreign states in Azerbaijan, social and political processes in the republic, military units, their deployment, and assignment, as well as the command of these military units, thus committing treason against the Motherland.

It was also established that Mirhafiz Mirisag oglu Jafarzadeh was arrested in absentia and put on an international wanted list by a court decision in 2018 for crimes committed under the control of the IRI secret services, he passed the information on the deployment of various military units and other information that could harm the state security and defence power of Azerbaijan to Orhan Kamran oglu Mammadov, who is currently hiding in IRI.

Zahir Asgarov, Elnur Rasulov, Arif Rasulov, Mirhafiz Jafarzadeh, and Bakhtiyar Aghazadeh, citizens of Azerbaijan, were prosecuted and arrested under Article 274 ("High Treason") of the Criminal Code of Azerbaijan.

The investigation revealed that Tohid Ibrahimbayli, Orhan Mammadov, Elshad Hajiyev, and others, who were running errands for the Iranian special services and hiding from criminal responsibility in Iran, created closed groups on WhatsApp under the names "Müzakirələr", "Elanlar", etc., through which they spread radical, religious extremist ideas, contrary to the Constitution of Azerbaijan and aimed at creating a religious state in Azerbaijan.

The State Security Service continues to carry out comprehensive investigative measures.
