06 November 2025 09:48

A ceremony dedicated to Azerbaijan's Victory Day was held in Ankara, Türkiye, on November 8.

The event was attended by Azerbaijan's Ambassador to Türkiye, Rashad Mammadov, Turkish Minister of National Defence Yasar Guler, Chairman of the Türkiye-Azerbaijan Friendship Group in Parliament, Deputy Shamil Ayrim, Chairman of the Great Unity Party (BBP) Mustafa Destici, and former Secretary General of the International Organisation of Turkic Culture (TÜRKSOY), Dusen Kaseinov, as well as other dignitaries and public representatives from both nations, Caliber.Az reports per local media

During his address, Minister Yasar Guler extended his congratulations to Azerbaijan, not only for its Victory Day but also for the following day’s National Flag Day.

He described Azerbaijan's military victory in the Karabakh region as a "historic and epic struggle" that demonstrated the courage and determination of the Azerbaijani Army in liberating its territory from occupation.

“The glorious Azerbaijani Army showed courage and determination to liberate its native Karabakh from occupation. Türkiye's strength is Azerbaijan’s strength, and Azerbaijan’s strength is Türkiye's strength,” the minister emphasised.

Azerbaijan's Ambassador to Türkiye, Rashad Mammadov, expressed gratitude for Türkiye's unwavering support during the 2020 Patriotic War. He reaffirmed the strength of the brotherhood between the two countries, stating that no external force or nation could ever break the friendship between Türkiye and Azerbaijan. Mammadov emphasised that this enduring union, rooted in history and sealed through sacrifice, not only strengthens regional cooperation but also contributes to the future stability and peace of the Turkic world.

Minister Guler also conveyed the congratulations of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, paying tribute to the fallen soldiers and wishing good health to the veterans of the war.

The ceremony’s artistic program featured performances by well-known Turkish cultural figures, including Azerbaijani pianist Islam Manafov, who is an honoured artist in Azerbaijan and currently resides in Türkiye.
