Azerbaijan, Slovakia discuss bilateral cooperation, regional security in Baku
Azerbaijan and Slovakia have discussed the development of bilateral relations, regional security, and cooperation within international organisations during high-level meetings in Baku, the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry said.
Azerbaijan’s Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov received Marek Eštok, State Secretary at the Slovak Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs, for talks focused on expanding political, economic, and institutional ties between the two countries, Caliber.Az reports.
According to the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry, both sides reviewed the current state and future prospects of Azerbaijan–Slovakia relations, stressing the importance of political dialogue, reciprocal visits, and institutional cooperation in strengthening bilateral engagement.
On the same day, delegations from both countries held a regular round of political consultations. The Azerbaijani delegation was led by Deputy Foreign Minister Fariz Rzayev, while the Slovak side was headed by Eštok.
During the consultations, officials expressed satisfaction with what they described as the growing “multifaceted strategic partnership” between Azerbaijan and Slovakia.
Azerbaijan’s role in regional and international transport initiatives, including the Middle Corridor, was positively assessed, the ministry said. The two sides also discussed cooperation in education, culture, tourism, and the expansion of the legal framework governing bilateral relations.
The talks further covered coordination on international platforms, mutual support for candidacies within global organisations, and broader multilateral cooperation.
Officials also exchanged views on regional developments, including the normalisation process between Azerbaijan and Armenia, reconstruction efforts in liberated territories, and ongoing demining activities, as well as other issues of mutual interest, the ministry added.
