Azerbaijan, Spain strengthen economic ties ahead of strategic dialogue
Azerbaijan’s Deputy Prime Minister Samir Sharifov met with María Amparo López Senovilla, Spain’s Secretary of State for Trade at the Ministry of Economy, Commerce, and Business, to discuss ways to enhance bilateral economic cooperation.
During the meeting, both sides emphasized the significance of holding the inaugural session of the Strategic Economic Dialogue between Azerbaijan and Spain in Baku, Caliber.Az reports citing local media.
The discussions also focused on the upcoming Azerbaijan-Spain business forum, alongside the signing of the "Memorandum of Understanding on Strategic Economic Cooperation" between Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Economy and Spain’s Ministry of Economy, Commerce, and Business. Both leaders expressed confidence that these initiatives would offer a strong impetus for further strengthening economic ties between the two nations.
Deputy Prime Minister Sharifov also referred to the recent meeting between Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez during COP29 in November. Sharifov highlighted the importance of this high-level interaction in advancing bilateral relations and exploring new opportunities for cooperation in various sectors.
The upcoming dialogue and agreements are expected to lay a foundation for deeper economic collaboration, paving the way for enhanced trade, investment, and strategic cooperation between Azerbaijan and Spain.
