Azerbaijan, Syria discuss expanding media partnership
Azerbaijan and Syria have discussed prospects for expanding cooperation in the media sector and reaffirmed mutual interest in further developing bilateral relations, as part of a meeting between Syrian Minister of Information Khaled Fawaz Zaarour and Azerbaijan’s chargé d’affaires in Damascus Elnur Shahhuseynov.
During the talks, the Syrian minister said the current authorities in Syria are seeking to open a new chapter in relations with friendly and brotherly states, Caliber.Az reports, citing local media.
He also noted that the Syrian people highly value Azerbaijan’s position after it severed diplomatic relations with the previous Syrian regime.
Al-Za’arour said Syria intends to revise its information policy and put an end to what he described as a distorted narrative about Azerbaijan that, according to him, had been promoted by the former authorities.
In turn, Shakhguseynov emphasized the importance of restoring relations between Baku and Damascus under Syria’s current administration, noting that the country has shown noticeable positive changes in a relatively short period.
The Azerbaijani diplomat also stressed that Baku attaches great importance to developing cooperation with Syria across various fields.
