Azerbaijan Tourism Bureau expands its reach with new office in Moscow PHOTO
The Azerbaijan Tourism Bureau has officially opened a representative office in Moscow, marking a significant step to strengthen tourism and economic relations with Russia.
The inauguration was attended by Fuad Nagiyev, Chairman of Azerbaijan’s State Tourism Agency; Rahman Mustafayev, Azerbaijan’s Ambassador to Russia; Russian Deputy Minister of Economic Development Dmitry Vakhrukov; Vyacheslav Manuilov, Deputy Head of the Moscow City Government’s Department of Foreign Economic and International Relations; Agalarov Development founder Emin Agalarov, and other officials.
In his address, Fuad Nagiyev emphasized the historic foundation of tourism relations between Azerbaijan and Russia, underpinned by the support of both nations' leaders, Caliber.Az reports via local media.
The event included discussions on future collaborative initiatives in the tourism sector.
The new tourism office aims to enhance cooperation with Russia’s tourism industry, promote Azerbaijan’s tourism assets, and increase information and promotional efforts in the Russian market.
In January-September 2024, 564,008 Russian tourists visited Azerbaijan, an 18% rise compared to the same period last year.
Azerbaijan has swiftly developed a vibrant tourism industry, positioning itself as a leader in the Caspian region. The country now boasts numerous five-star hotels, luxury recreation areas and restaurants, mountain and health resorts, and modern airports across various cities.
With strong recreational infrastructure, simplified visa procedures, and affordable travel options, Azerbaijan reached a landmark in 2019 by hosting 3.2 million international visitors — a record high.
Traditionally recognized for its oil industry, Azerbaijan is increasingly prioritizing tourism within its non-oil economy, recognizing its potential as a sustainable and significant source of foreign exchange.
