Azerbaijan, Türkiye, Georgia enhance defence cooperation at trilateral meeting in Batumi PHOTO
A trilateral meeting took place in Batumi, Georgia among Azerbaijani Defence Minister, Col-Gen Zakir Hasanov, Turkish National Defence Minister Yasar Guler, and Georgian Defence Minister Irakli Chikovani on September 10, 2024.
The meeting highlighted the long-standing tradition of neighbourliness and friendship among the three nations. The cooperation among the countries and their governments is evolving positively, based on mutual trust, and is crucial for ensuring a prosperous future and well-being for their peoples, the Azerbaijani Defence Ministry told Caliber.Az.
The trilateral meeting also underscored the importance of consolidating joint efforts to address modern challenges and factors that may pose threats to regional security. The ministers emphasised the importance of expanding the scope of joint trilateral and bilateral exercises, as well as the mutual exchange of experience. They stressed that the development of trilateral defence cooperation would significantly contribute to establishing lasting peace, stability, and security, not only within their countries but also throughout the region.
The meeting covered new opportunities for collaboration in military, defence technology, military education, and military medicine. The sides exchanged views on various topics of mutual interest. Following the trilateral meeting, a protocol was signed, and a press conference was held for the media.
