Azerbaijan, Türkiye reaffirm military ties, hail regional peace during talks in Baku PHOTO

During an official visit to Baku, Azerbaijani Defence Minister, Colonel General Zakir Hasanov met with Türkiye’s National Security Council Secretary General Okay Memiş, with both sides emphasising the positive impact of their cooperation on regional peace and stability.

The high-level talks underscored the enduring and strategic partnership between the two brotherly nations, the Azerbaijani Defence Ministry told Caliber.Az.

Hasanov warmly welcomed Memiş, expressing satisfaction with his visit and highlighting the deep-rooted fraternal ties between Azerbaijan and Türkiye.

He emphasised that the close relationship between the presidents of both countries has played a pivotal role in advancing bilateral military cooperation, which he described as being at a high stage of development. 

The Azerbaijani defence minister also noted a marked increase in the number of joint military exercises conducted with Turkish forces this year, signalling strengthened coordination and preparedness between the two allied militaries. For his part, Memiş expressed gratitude for the hospitality extended by the Azerbaijani side and conveyed greetings from Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. 

He reaffirmed Türkiye’s commitment to deepening strategic ties and further enhancing military and security cooperation with Azerbaijan. They also exchanged views on a range of issues of mutual interest, reinforcing their shared vision for continued collaboration in defence and beyond.
