Azerbaijan, Türkiye reaffirm strategic military alliance at Baku talks PHOTO/VIDEO
The Minister of Defence of Azerbaijan, Colonel General Zakir Hasanov, has met with a delegation led by Army General Levent Ergün, Second Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Türkiye, who is visiting Azerbaijan to take part in the 17th Azerbaijan–Türkiye High-Level Military Dialogue Meeting.
As part of the visit, the Turkish delegation paid tribute to the National Leader of the Azerbaijani people, Heydar Aliyev, and to prominent ophthalmologist and academician Zarifa Aliyeva at the Alley of Honor. The delegation also visited the Alley of Martyrs and the Turkish Martyrs’ Cemetery, where they laid wreaths and flowers in remembrance of those who sacrificed their lives. In addition, the delegation visited Victory Park and laid a wreath at the Victory Monument, Caliber.Az reports, citing Azerbaijan’s Defence Ministry.
Following the commemorative events, a bilateral meeting was held at the Azerbaijan Ministry of Defence.
Colonel General Hasanov emphasized that the strategic alliance between Azerbaijan and Türkiye is rooted in long-standing friendly and fraternal relations, and underscored the importance of measures aimed at further strengthening existing military cooperation. He also highlighted the significance of cooperation within the framework of the Organization of Turkic States.
In turn, Army General Ergün expressed his gratitude to Colonel General Hasanov for organizing the meetings in Baku on the margins of the 17th Azerbaijan–Türkiye High-Level Military Dialogue Meeting. He noted that relations between the two countries are built on mutual trust, confidence and support.
The talks featured a comprehensive exchange of views on new opportunities for cooperation between the two fraternal nations in the military, military-technical and military educational spheres. The sides also discussed regional security issues and a range of other matters of mutual interest, reaffirming their commitment to further deepening the strategic partnership between Azerbaijan and Türkiye.
