Azerbaijan, UAE hold first strategic cooperation committee meeting in Abu Dhabi PHOTO

Azerbaijan and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) have convened the inaugural meeting of their strategic cooperation committee in Abu Dhabi, marking a significant step in strengthening bilateral ties.

The committee was established following a joint declaration on a comprehensive strategic partnership, signed during the UAE President’s visit to Azerbaijan on September 16, Caliber.Az reports citing the Foreign Ministry.

The meeting was co-chaired by Azerbaijan’s Deputy Foreign Minister Yalchin Rafiyev and UAE Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Saeed Al Hajeri.

Discussions began with subcommittee sessions focusing on political, diplomatic, economic, humanitarian, defence, legal and energy cooperation. Participants explored partnership opportunities, potential projects, and prospects for expanding bilateral relations.

Following the subcommittee meetings, Rafiyev and Al-Hajeri held a bilateral discussion before an extended committee session. The co-chairs outlined tasks aimed at achieving concrete outcomes, including agreeing on a roadmap and action plan, and set the schedule for future meetings.

Officials expressed satisfaction with the recent dynamic development of Azerbaijani-UAE relations. They highlighted the importance of high-level state visits, the agreements reached during these visits, and the signed documents in elevating bilateral ties to a comprehensive strategic partnership.

Representatives from Azerbaijan’s Ministries of Foreign Affairs, Economy, Energy, Justice, Defence, Interior, Digital Development and Transport, Science and Education, Culture and Agriculture attended, alongside the State Tourism Agency, SOCAR, and the Azerbaijan Investment Holding.
