Azerbaijan, UN review sustainable development cooperation
Azerbaijan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Jeyhun Bayramov, received the United Nations Resident Coordinator in Azerbaijan, Vladanka Andreeva, on December 22 on the occasion of the completion of her diplomatic mission.
Bayramov expressed satisfaction with the development of cooperation between Azerbaijan and the United Nations, thanked Andreeva for her contributions, and wished her success in her future endeavors, Caliber.Az reports via the Foreign Ministry.
During the meeting, the sides discussed the current agenda of Azerbaijan–UN cooperation, including the status of implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Satisfaction was expressed with Azerbaijan’s collaboration with the UN and its specialised agencies.
The discussion also recalled that Azerbaijan will host the 13th Session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13) in 2026, the UN’s principal global platform on urbanisation. It was emphasised that hosting such events reflects Azerbaijan’s active role in multilateral diplomacy.
The parties noted the successful completion of the Azerbaijan–UN Cooperation Framework on Sustainable Development for 2021–2025, and highlighted that the new framework for 2026–2030, signed in October 2025, will mark a new phase in the partnership.
Bayramov also outlined steps taken toward large-scale restoration and reconstruction in territories liberated from occupation following Azerbaijan’s restoration of its territorial integrity, as well as initiatives aimed at promoting stability and cooperation in the South Caucasus.
He said that the Joint Declaration signed in Washington on August 8, 2025, together with other agreements reached, represents an important milestone in advancing the regional peace process.
The meeting concluded with an exchange of views on other issues of mutual interest.
