Azerbaijan, US review electricity transportation via TRIPP at roundtable Updated
Azerbaijan and the United States have reviewed progress and cooperation prospects on major cross-regional electricity corridors, including the proposed Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity (TRIPP), during a high-level energy roundtable held as part of a US business mission to Baku.
The meeting was led by Azerbaijan’s Minister of Energy Parviz Shahbazov and Khush Choksy, Senior Vice President for the Middle East and Türkiye, with participation from key Azerbaijani energy institutions and a delegation of senior executives from major US and international companies, Caliber.Az reports per the ministry.
According to officials, the discussions assessed the implementation of electricity transmission corridors linking Azerbaijan, Türkiye, Central Asia, and Europe, with particular attention given to the Trump Route initiative and opportunities for cooperation with US companies within these projects. The corridors are seen as a strategic component of regional energy connectivity, diversification of supply routes, and broader international energy security.
Participants expressed satisfaction with the Azerbaijan–U.S. Energy Partnership, noting its significant contribution to the successful delivery of national, regional, and international energy projects. The technologies, expertise, and investments of U.S. companies were highlighted as decisive factors in the development of large transnational energy initiatives.
The roundtable also emphasised that policies pursued by the two countries’ leaderships—aimed at regional peace and strategic partnership—have created strong momentum for expanding bilateral energy cooperation. Azerbaijan’s approach of developing all energy types on an equal basis, diversifying regional energy links, expanding its role as an electricity supplier, and allocating a growing share of energy to support data centers was outlined.
Cooperation opportunities were discussed across oil and gas, renewable energy, electricity, hydrogen, and energy efficiency. The current state of cooperation between SOCAR and ExxonMobil was reviewed, alongside broader prospects for U.S. involvement in Azerbaijan’s evolving energy landscape.
The U.S. business delegation included senior executives from Apple, ExxonMobil, Baker Hughes, bp, Shell International, Boeing Global, Honeywell, Meta, Visa, Mastercard, J.P. Morgan, Ericsson, Wabtec, Motorola Solutions, Lummus Technology, and other companies, underscoring mutual interest in expanding collaboration in technology, investment, and knowledge exchange in the energy sector.
