Azerbaijan, Venezuela explore enhanced consular cooperation in virtual talks

07 March 2025 16:31

Azerbaijan and Venezuela are taking their diplomatic relations to the next level, with a focus on consular cooperation, as the two countries held their first-ever consular consultations via videoconference on March 6.

Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry told Caliber.Az that leading the Azerbaijani delegation was Emil Safarov, head of the Consular Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, while María Rafaela Suárez Hernández, Venezuela’s Director General of the Consular Relations Office, represented her country.

The event also saw the participation of Ruslan Rzaev, Azerbaijan’s Ambassador to Venezuela, and Christopher Alberto Martinez Berroteran, Venezuela’s Ambassador to Azerbaijan.

During the discussions, both sides explored opportunities to strengthen ties in consular affairs, with a particular focus on expanding their bilateral legal framework.

The talks also highlighted the importance of exchanging cutting-edge practices in digital consular services, aiming to streamline and enhance services for citizens of both nations. Other key topics included collaboration in migration, labour, and social protection — areas that could significantly benefit both countries as they look to build a more robust partnership moving forward.

The consultations mark a promising new chapter in Azerbaijan-Venezuela relations, with both nations eager to expand cooperation in these critical areas.
