Azerbaijan, World Bank launch initiative to boost IDP livelihoods PHOTO
Rovshan Rzayev, Chairman of Azerbaijan’s State Committee for Refugees and Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs), met with a delegation from the World Bank to discuss ongoing initiatives supporting displaced communities.
During the talks, Rzayev briefed World Bank officials on the Committee’s efforts to facilitate the sustainable resettlement of former IDPs under the First State Program on the Great Return, Caliber.Az reports per local media.
He highlighted a jointly implemented project with the Bank, designed to create employment opportunities for those returning to their homelands.
Around 800 IDPs in Azerbaijan have so far taken part in job training programmes under this initiative.
World Bank representatives, including Eric Caldwell Johnson, Project Manager for Improved Livelihoods for Internally Displaced Persons in Azerbaijan, Sabina Anne Espinoza, and Khalisa Shahverdiyeva, praised the partnership and the progress achieved through the project, underlining the importance of continued cooperation on IDP-related initiatives.
