Azerbaijan, Zimbabwe seek to expand bilateral cooperation

07 July 2026 19:21

Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov has met with a delegation led by Zimbabwean National Assembly Speaker Jacob Mudenda to discuss expanding bilateral cooperation in education, tourism, mining, agriculture, public services, and other sectors, Azerbaijan's Foreign Ministry has stated.

It said the sides reviewed prospects for advancing political dialogue, strengthening interparliamentary cooperation, and expanding collaboration, Caliber.Az reports.

Bayramov highlighted the importance of reciprocal visits and parliamentary diplomacy in deepening bilateral ties and underscored the value of cooperation within international organisations.

The officials also discussed Azerbaijan's initiatives during its chairmanship of the Non-Aligned Movement, the outcomes of COP29, and cooperation within the United Nations and the Inter-Parliamentary Union.

Bayramov congratulated Zimbabwe on its election as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council for the 2027–2028 term and reaffirmed Azerbaijan's readiness for close cooperation.

The meeting also covered regional developments, the normalisation process between Baku and Yerevan, reconstruction efforts in Azerbaijan's liberated territories, and other issues of mutual interest.
