Azerbaijani ambassador invites Hiroshima administration to WUF13 in Baku
Azerbaijan’s Ambassador to Japan, Farid Talibov, has invited the administration of the Japanese city of Hiroshima to take part in the 13th session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13), which will be held in Baku from May 17 to 22, 2026, according to a post by the Embassy of Azerbaijan in Japan on Facebook.
As part of the visit, Talibov held a meeting with Hiroshima Mayor Kazumi Matsui at Hiroshima City Hall.
“Ambassador Talibov also invited Hiroshima City to participate in the World Urban Forum to be held in Azerbaijan this May, where global leaders and experts will discuss pressing challenges such as housing shortages and sustainable urban development,” the post read.
The statement highlighted that Hiroshima’s experience in reconstruction and development after World War II serves as an important example for the international community. During the meeting, the sides also exchanged views on the current regional situation and the importance of cooperation between countries in maintaining stability and peace.
Mayor Kazumi Matsui, for his part, highlighted the challenges countries face amid a complex international environment and emphasised the importance of protecting societies while preserving international cooperation.
