Azerbaijani animation movie among winners at international festival
The III International Festival of Animated Films "Altın Saka" was held in the Kazakh city of Turkestan this week. A total of 41 films were thrown in the hat as part of the competition program of the festival, in which animation films from Turkic-speaking countries took part.
Azerbaijani animated film "Tarix" (History), which was produced by the OB FILM studio, came up among the winners upon the jury's decision, Azertag reports. "Tarix" was awarded third place at the "Altın Saka" festival.
The director of the film is Jeyhun Turksoy, the composer is Shamsi Tagiyev, and the screenwriter and producer is Orkhan Behbid.
The jury of the festival included film experts from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Türkiye, and Azerbaijan. Azerbaijan was represented in the jury by an official from the film studio "Azerbaijanfilm", screenwriter Ramil Alekperov.
"Tarix" film screens a story of a boy who cannot remember the dates of the occupation of Azerbaijani regions, indicated in his school diary. According to the plot of the animated movie, he, having played enough with toys, falls asleep. In the dream of a young hero, the pictures of the toys come to life, appearing as real military equipment that has defeated the enemy. The boy awakens from his sleep, opens his diary, and proudly looks at the crossed-out dates of the occupation.
"Tarix" was previously shown at the 5th ANIMAFILM International Animation Festival in Baku, as well as came among the quarter-finalists of the 19th Aakruti-my Creation International Film Festival in India. It was also a finalist of the Batangas Balisong Film Festival and a participant in the 14th VAFI & RAFI - International Children and Youth Animation Film Festival in Croatia.
