Explore Belarusian history: Niasvizh castle exhibit coming to Azerbaijan

14 May 2025 20:40

The Niasvizh National Historical and Cultural Museum-Reserve of Belarus will open the exhibition "Niasvizh – Heritage of World Culture" at the Azerbaijan National Museum of Art, featuring 23 panels displaying captivating images of the 16th–18th century Niasvizh Castle's exteriors and interiors.

The exhibition, which will be held on May 19, 2025, at 16:00 (GMT+4), is a collaborative effort between the Azerbaijan National Museum of Art and the Niasvizh Museum-Reserve, with the support of the Ministries of Culture of both Azerbaijan and Belarus, Caliber.Az reports via local media.

Visitors will also be able to explore photographs of the museum’s exhibition halls, along with a video presentation highlighting the significance of the castle and its cultural heritage. In addition to the display, the exhibition will offer an interactive guided tour titled “Traditions of Court Feasts”. This immersive experience will explore key aspects of royal life, including the art of courtly dance, the exotic flavors of court cuisine, the organisation of princely hunts, and intellectual entertainment through games.

The programme aims to give visitors a rich, engaging experience of the customs and culture that defined the era. Niasvizh Castle, once the residence of the influential Radziwiłł family of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania, is an architectural gem blending Renaissance, Baroque, and classical elements. Recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage site, the castle is considered a living encyclopedia of Belarusian and European culture.

The museum complex includes not only the castle itself but also its fortifications and expansive park, offering a unique glimpse into both the history and the contemporary cultural landscape of Belarus. The exhibition will be open to the public until June 15, 2025.
