12 October 2024 12:33

On October 12, Colonel General Zakir Hasanov presided over a routine official meeting at the Defence Ministry.

The meeting, conducted via video link, included deputy ministers, commanders of various military branches and their deputies, the leadership of the Separate Combined Arms Army, and heads of key departments and directorates within the ministry, along with commanders of military units and formations, Azerbaijani Defence Ministry told Caliber.Az.

A moment of silence was observed in memory of national leader Heydar Aliyev and the martyrs who gave their lives for the country's territorial integrity.

During the meeting, the Defense Minister highlighted the directives issued by President Ilham Aliyev, Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces. Hasanov reaffirmed that Azerbaijan's primary objectives include enhancing the military power and combat readiness of the army, alongside the professional development of personnel. The meeting reviewed the operational situation along the conditional border and discussed reports on current circumstances. The Minister provided specific instructions to maintain high combat effectiveness, strengthen vigilance, and remain prepared to take preventive measures against potential provocations from revanchist forces at the border.

Hasanov praised the organization of the 5th Jubilee Azerbaijan International Defense Exhibition (ADEX), held in Baku from September 24 to 26, where modern weapons and equipment from Azerbaijan and other advanced nations were showcased. He emphasized the importance of thoroughly understanding the capabilities of new weapons, equipment, and aerial attack systems in the Azerbaijani army's arsenal, ensuring their proper operation and effective combat application during exercises.

The attendees stressed the necessity of efficiently organizing services in military units, clearing liberated territories of mines and unexploded ordnance, and reinforcing positions in areas with challenging terrain and harsh climates while maintaining supply routes in operational conditions.

Highlighting the attention and care provided by the country's leadership, the Minister noted the high level of social and living conditions as well as the morale of the servicemen. He emphasized the importance of addressing logistical and medical support for the units, particularly during the winter months.

In closing, additional instructions were issued regarding the regular conduct of educational activities on various topics, adherence to safety and discipline rules among personnel, and ensuring quality control in training and educational processes.
