Azerbaijani diaspora meeting in Stockholm focuses on strengthening community activities
A meeting focused on enhancing the activities of the Azerbaijani Diaspora in Sweden was held in the capital, Stockholm.
The event, which brought together members of the Azerbaijani community, began with the playing of the national anthem of Azerbaijan and a moment of silence to honour the memory of the soldiers who fell for the Motherland, Caliber.Az reports, citing local media.
During the meeting, participants emphasized the importance of uniting diaspora associations to strengthen their collective impact. It was noted that establishing an organizing committee is necessary to effectively coordinate the activities of the Swedish-Azerbaijani Federation (SAF) and ensure the smooth operation of diaspora work. The committee was formed with representatives from the majority of the communities included.
The organizing committee is expected to elect the leadership of the Federation at the next SAF congress, which is scheduled for early 2025.
Additionally, the meeting highlighted the importance of establishing the Azerbaijan House, with a preliminary project presented during the event. This initiative aims to create a central space for the Azerbaijani community in Sweden to further promote cultural and social activities.
Although the Swedish-Azerbaijani Federation, established in 2020, faced inactivity during the pandemic, the associations it represents have continued to organize joint events with both Azerbaijani and Swedish communities. The event marks a renewed effort to strengthen the role of the Azerbaijani Diaspora in the Kingdom of Sweden.
