Azerbaijani FM embarks on working visit to Saudi Arabia to attend OIC meeting
The Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry has said that Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov began a working visit to Jeddah, Saudi Arabia on March 7.
Bayramov’s visit will involve his participation in an extraordinary meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC). The meeting is expected to address key regional and international issues impacting member countries, the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry told Caliber.Az.
In addition to attending the OIC meeting, Bayramov will also hold a series of bilateral discussions aimed at strengthening Azerbaijan's diplomatic relations and exploring opportunities for enhanced cooperation with various member states.
The Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) is an international organisation founded in 1969, consisting of 57 member states, with a collective aim to promote political, economic, and cultural cooperation among Muslim-majority countries. Headquartered in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, the OIC is the second-largest intergovernmental organisation in the world, after the United Nations. Its primary objectives are to safeguard the interests and dignity of Muslims globally, foster solidarity among member states, promote peace and security, and address issues affecting the Muslim world, including conflict resolution, humanitarian aid, and economic development. The OIC also serves as a platform for dialogue and cooperation on common political, economic, and social issues impacting its members.
