Azerbaijani minister discusses strengthening bilateral ties with Guinea-Bissau officials
The delegations of Azerbaijan and Guinea-Bissau have exchanged views on rendering support for the training of medical specialists from Guinea-Bissau and other issues of mutual interest.
A meeting was held with a delegation headed by Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation, and Communities of the Republic of Guinea-Bissau Carlos Pinto Pereira at the Azerbaijani Health Ministry. Guinea-Bissau's Minister of Environment Viriato Cassama and other officials also attended the meeting, the Azerbaijani Health Ministry told Caliber.Az.
Azerbaijani Health Minister Teymur Musayev welcomed the guests and emphasised the significant opportunities for expanding cooperation between the two countries in the field of healthcare.
Musayev highlighted that collaboration in this area is observed on an international level within the Non-Aligned Movement and the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation. In conclusion, Musayev expressed confidence in the further development of bilateral relations.
For his part, Carlos Pinto Pereira emphasised that diplomatic relations between the two countries were established in 1992 and noted that cooperation between Guinea-Bissau and Azerbaijan has been steadily growing since then.
Earlier, the Foreign Ministries of Azerbaijan and Guinea-Bissau signed a memorandum of cooperation, establishing a framework for political consultations between the two nations.
The agreement was announced during a joint press conference in Baku by Azerbaijan’s Foreign Minister, Jeyhun Bayramov, and his Guinea-Bissau counterpart Carlos Pinto Pereira.
Bayramov described the signing as a significant step towards enhancing regular communication between the two countries, ensuring that both parties are informed about developments in their respective regions. The memorandum is expected to facilitate more robust diplomatic ties and foster mutual understanding.
