Azerbaijani judokas to face France in final

Some 16 teams will take part in the final day of the European Judo Junior Championship held in Portugal’s Odivelas.

Azerbaijan announced the following composition: Mahammad Musayev, Khanahmad Sharifov (both - 60 kg), Aslan Kotsoyev, Ali Gazammadov (both - 81 kg), Ramazan Ahmadov, Eldar Aliyev (+81 kg), and also Vusala Hajiyeva, Aytaj Yolchuzada (both - 48 kg), Fidan Gasimova (63 kg) and Kamilla Tokholiyeva (+63 kg), Аzerisport.com reports.

The Azerbaijani team defeated the Netherlands (4-1) in the 1/8 finals. Akhmadov, Hajiyeva, Musayev and Kotsoyev won their bouts, Hasimova lost to her opponent.

In the quarterfinal, the Azerbaijani team defeated Germany (4-2). Hajiyeva, Musayev, Kotsoyev and Akhmadov won their bouts, Hasimova and Tokholiyeva lost to their opponents.

In the semi-final, Azerbaijan defeated Italy (4-2). Musayev, Kotsoyev, Akhmadov and Hajiyeva won their bouts, Hasimova and Tokholiyeva lost to their opponents.

Azerbaijan will meet France in the final.

The Azerbaijani judokas won 9 (6-0-3) medals in the individual tournament. Mahammad Mamishov (50 kg), Mirkhalig Iskandarov (55 kg), Vusala Hajiyeva (48 kg), Mahammad Musayev (60 kg), Abil Yusubov (66 kg) and Ramazan Ahmadov (+90 kg) became champions. Additionally, Ahmad Rustamov (50 kg), Khadija Gadashova (52 kg) and Mehti Jafarov (66 kg) took third place.
