Azerbaijani, Kazakh parliamentary leaders strengthen ties during Dushanbe meeting
Chairman of the Milli Majlis, Sahiba Gafarova, currently on a working visit to Tajikistan to attend the International Parliamentary Conference marking the 30th anniversary of the adoption of Tajikistan’s Constitution, held a meeting with Maulen Ashimbayev, Chairman of the Senate of the Parliament of Kazakhstan, in Dushanbe.
According to the Milli Majlis press and public relations department, both sides expressed satisfaction with the growing relations between Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan, as well as the collaboration between their respective parliaments, Caliber.Az reports.
Senate Chairman Ashimbayev congratulated Sahiba Gafarova on the successful elections of the Milli Majlis and her reappointment as Speaker of the Azerbaijani Parliament. He emphasized that Azerbaijan is a key and reliable partner for Kazakhstan and that Kazakhstan places great importance on strengthening ties with Azerbaijan. The significance of cooperation between the legislative bodies of both nations was underscored during the meeting.
In response, Speaker Gafarova expressed her gratitude for the congratulations and recalled previous productive meetings with Chairman Ashimbayev. She noted that these engagements have played an essential role in deepening inter-parliamentary relations. Gafarova highlighted the shared history, and cultural and spiritual values that unite the Azerbaijani and Kazakh peoples, adding that ties between the two nations have grown stronger since achieving independence.
The meeting also recognized the positive impact of regular mutual visits and parliamentary exchanges, with both leaders praising the role of friendship groups within their respective legislatures. The two officials also exchanged views on other issues of mutual interest.
