Azerbaijani-made wines gaining popularity in Russia
28 June 2022 17:09
Chairman of the Azerbaijan Wine Producers and Exporters Association Elchin Madatov has said that the demand for Azerbaijani wine in Russia began to grow, and export orders became more active.
“Since late February, there has been a stagnation in orders. Since this month, a rebound has been felt. Even Russian companies not working with Azerbaijan show interest in cooperation with us,” Report quotes Madatov as saying on June 28.
He said that winemakers from Europe, as well as from neighbouring Georgia, cannot supply their products to Russia.
“This allows us to expand [wine] exports to Russia,” he noted.
In 2021, Azerbaijan exported 3 million bottles of wine worth $4 million, which makes up 20-30 per cent of the country’s overall wine production.
