Azerbaijani military leadership marks 26th anniversary of special forces with ceremony, awards PHOTO

On April 30, 2025, the leadership of Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Defence attended a commemorative event at military unit “N” dedicated to the 26th anniversary of the establishment of the Special Forces of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces.

The event was marked by the participation of Defence Minister, Colonel General Zakir Hasanov, who personally met with the servicemen of the Special Forces, the Azerbaijani Defence Ministry told Caliber.Az.

In his address, Minister Hasanov highlighted the significant steps taken under the leadership and close attention of President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, and First Vice President Mehriban Aliyeva. He emphasised the measures aimed at improving the social and living conditions of military personnel, addressing their concerns, and providing them with comprehensive support, underlining that these efforts reflect the state’s enduring commitment to the welfare of its armed forces.

Colonel General Hasanov paid special tribute to the heroism and professionalism demonstrated by the Special Forces during the 44-day Patriotic War, as well as in other military operations. He stressed that the courage, dedication, and operational excellence of the Special Forces are highly valued by the Commander-in-Chief and continue to serve as a source of national pride. Concluding his speech, the minister extended his heartfelt congratulations to all members of the Special Forces and wished them continued success in fulfilling their duties in defence of the homeland.

Speaking on behalf of the servicemen, a representative of the Special Forces expressed deep appreciation to the President and the Ministry’s leadership for their unwavering support and attention. He reaffirmed the Special Forces’ full readiness to carry out any task assigned by the Supreme Commander-in-Chief and assured that they will continue to serve with honour, loyalty, and a strong sense of responsibility, always striving to uphold the trust placed in them by the nation.

The ceremony concluded with an official presentation of awards to distinguished servicemen in recognition of their exemplary service.
