Azerbaijani official calls for partnership to boost Middle Corridor development VIDEO

Azerbaijani presidential aide Hikmet Hajiyev has emphasised that Azerbaijan prioritises cooperation and partnership over aid in advancing the Middle Corridor transport route.

Speaking at the panel discussion titled “The Middle Corridor: A New Geopolitical and Economic Lifeline?” during the GLOBSEC 2025 forum in Prague, Hajiyev highlighted Azerbaijan’s significant investments in regional infrastructure. These include expanding cargo capacities at the Baku–Tbilisi–Kars railway and the Baku port, demonstrating the country’s firm commitment to strengthening this crucial trade link between Europe and Asia, Caliber.Az reports.

“We don’t need help — we need cooperation and partnership; we have investment capabilities and regional collaboration with our brotherly and sisterly countries,” Hajiyev stated, underlining the importance of joint efforts to fortify this vital connection between the two continents.

He called on the European Union to take a clearer and more proactive role in the region’s development, noting that while initiatives such as TRACECA contribute to connectivity, fresh strategic thinking is necessary to fully unlock the corridor’s potential.

Pointing to successful collaborations with neighbouring countries like Türkiye and Georgia, Hajiyev reiterated that Azerbaijan possesses the investment capacity and strong regional partnerships to drive the project forward, urging all stakeholders to unite in enhancing this key economic artery.
