Azerbaijani Parliament: Responsibility for this cowardly attack on embassy lies with Iranian side

Azerbaijan's Milli Majlis expressed its attitude towards the terrorist attack on the Embassy of the Republic of Azerbaijan in the Islamic Republic of Iran.

The Azerbaijani Parliament strongly condemned the terrorist act committed on January 27, 2023, against the Embassy of Azerbaijan in Iran, APA reports.

The Milli Majlis statement noted that the responsibility for this cowardly attack lies with the Iranian side.

"It should be noted with regret that recently there has been a widespread campaign of slander and threats against our country in the Islamic Republic of Iran. In this regard, the adoption of preventive measures to foil possible attacks on Azerbaijan's diplomatic missions should have been the focus of the attention of Iran's law enforcement agencies. In such conditions, the possibility of an armed man's unhindered entry into the embassy's administrative building, where a special security regime operates, raises serious questions.

We consider Iran's statements about the reasons for this brutal attack unsatisfactory. We demand a thorough and in-depth investigation of this terrorist act, the identification and the most severe punishment of all the perpetrators and those behind the bloody crime, as well as the identification of the circumstances that led to an unacceptable terrorist attack on the diplomatic mission," the statement stresses.
