Azerbaijani Parliament Speaker visits Russia for CIS IPA meetings PHOTO
On November 20, an Azerbaijani parliamentary delegation headed by Milli Majlis (Parliament) Speaker Sahiba Gafarova arrived in St. Petersburg on a working visit to participate in the meeting of the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly council and the 57th Plenary Session of the CIS IPA.
According to the Parliament's press service, the delegation was met at Pulkovo airport by Chairman of the Legislative Assembly of St Petersburg Vsevolod Belikov and Secretary General of the CIS IPA Council Dmitry Kobitsky, as well as Azerbaijani Ambassador to Russia Rahman Mustafayev, permanent representative of the Milli Majlis in the CIS IPA Aydin Jafarov and other officials, Caliber.Az reports, citing local media.
Within the framework of the visit, Gafarova is scheduled to address the meetings of the Council and the 57th Plenary Session of the IPA CIS, as well as several meetings with the heads of parliamentary delegations participating in the event.
The latest session of the Interparliamentary Assembly of the Commonwealth of Independent States (IPA CIS) is set to take in St. Petersburg. On November 21, 2024, the assembly will discuss various legislative issues, including the legal frameworks for elections, migration, and anti-corruption efforts. Notably, the 57th Plenary Session is scheduled for November 22, 2024
The event will bring together parliamentarians from CIS member countries to assess ongoing legal reforms and initiatives, such as the Model Migration Code. There will also be expert discussions and roundtables, focusing on topics ranging from migration laws to labor rights across the region
