Azerbaijani parliamentary leader begins working visit to Egypt
Speaker of the Milli Majlis (Azerbaijani Parliament), Sahiba Gafarova, has arrived in Egypt for a working visit aimed at strengthening interparliamentary ties and taking part in a major international cultural event.
According to local media, Gafarova was welcomed at Cairo International Airport by Azerbaijani Ambassador to Egypt Elkhan Polukhov and other diplomatic officials.
During the visit, the Speaker is expected to hold a series of bilateral meetings with Egyptian counterparts and representatives of international organisations. She will also attend the official opening ceremony of the Grand Egyptian Museum (Giza Museum) — one of the most ambitious cultural projects in the region.
The Grand Egyptian Museum, a monumental $1 billion project located near the Pyramids of Giza, has been in development for decades and faced several delays and budget challenges before reaching completion.
The grand opening, hosted by the Egyptian government, has drawn dozens of foreign leaders and high-ranking officials from around the world, underscoring Egypt’s growing role as a cultural and diplomatic hub.
