The visit to Shusha forms part of a broader two-day trip by representatives of the diplomatic corps accredited in Azerbaijan to the Karabakh and East Zangezur regions. The delegation—comprising over 150 ambassadors, diplomats, military attachés, and representatives of international organisations from 62 countries—is being accompanied by Hikmat Hajiyev.
During their stay in Shusha, participants toured key reconstruction and cultural sites, including a mosque under construction in the Yeni Shusha area, whose foundation was laid in 2021 as part of post-conflict rebuilding efforts. The diplomats also visited the Shusha Carpet Museum, where they were introduced to Azerbaijan’s rich carpet-weaving traditions, as well as the historic Gazanchi Church, reflecting the country’s commitment to preserving its multi-confessional heritage.
