Azerbaijani, Uzbek FMs focus on regional security at OTS ministerial meeting UPDATED
Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov met with Uzbek Foreign Minister Baxtiyor Saidov on March 7, 2026 in Istanbul, on the sidelines of the informal Council of Foreign Ministers meeting of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS).
The ministers exchanged views on the current security situation in the Middle East, focusing on the recent military escalation in the region. Solidarity with Azerbaijan was expressed over the drone attacks launched from Iran against the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, which caused damage to civilian infrastructure and injured civilians. Bayramov thanked Uzbekistan, including statements from its President, for their immediate support following the attacks.
The discussion also addressed issues arising from the Azerbaijan–Uzbekistan alliance, the continuation of high-level diplomatic contacts, and prospects for expanding cooperation across multiple sectors. Other bilateral and regional matters of mutual interest were also explored, highlighting the commitment of both countries to deepen strategic ties.

Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov met with his Uzbek counterpart Bakhtiyor Saidov on the sidelines of the emergency session of the Organisation of Turkic States (OTS) Council of Foreign Ministers in Istanbul to review regional issues.
The ministers discussed the Azerbaijan–Uzbekistan strategic partnership, prospects for expanding cooperation in political and economic spheres, regional coordination, and collaboration within the OTS framework, Caliber.Az reports, citing the foreign ministry.
