Baku airport restricts terminal access, parking amid COP29
Heydar Aliyev International Airport will introduce temporary operational adjustments to accommodate the high influx of visitors attending COP29, the international climate conference hosted by Azerbaijan.
These changes, effective from November 10 to 14, aim to enhance the safety and convenience of travelers and ensure smooth airport operations throughout this period, Caliber.Az reports via the airport press service.
Access restrictions and terminal adjustments
For security and crowd management, only passengers with valid tickets will have access to Terminals 1 and 2. To minimize congestion in the waiting areas, the airport kindly requests that family members and friends refrain from accompanying travellers inside the terminals.
Changes in parking and traffic routes
Parking in front of the airport will be reserved exclusively for official vehicles. Passengers are advised that only drop-offs will be permitted on airport grounds from November 10 to 14. For those needing long-term parking prior to November 10, vehicles must be removed before the start of the restricted period, or they will be relocated.
The airport has also designated specific routes to ease traffic flow during COP29. Drivers travelling from Baku city centre to the airport should follow this route: Nizami Street → Yusif Safarov Street → Izzet Orucov Street → Fazail Bayramov Street → 8 November Avenue → Zigh Road. Those coming from Bilgah and Mashtaga settlements are encouraged to take the route through Mardakan and Shuvalan to reach Zigh Road. All travel on these routes will be free of charge during the conference.
Public transport adjustments for COP29
The H1 and H2 express bus lines will offer convenient access to the airport from November 10 through November 22. The H1 bus will connect the airport with the 28 May metro station every 10 minutes, while the H2 bus will link with the Ahmadli metro station every 15 minutes.
Passenger recommendations
Passengers are urged to arrive at the airport a minimum of three hours before departure, accounting for potential delays due to high traffic and security protocols. Online check-in is also recommended to expedite airport procedures.
During COP29, Heydar Aliyev International Airport will operate in an enhanced mode, implementing all necessary measures to ensure uninterrupted service and a high level of passenger satisfaction amidst the increased flow of international visitors.
