The Belt and Road Forum on Engineering Capacity Building is currently underway in Chengdu, China, marking the final day of this three-day event from June 10 to 12, 2025.
As part of the larger Second Belt and Road Conference on Science and Technology Exchange, this forum has brought together experts, engineers, and policymakers to explore ways to advance engineering innovation and strengthen capacity building along the Belt and Road Initiative.
Hosted by the China Association for Science and Technology and co-sponsored by several prominent organisations, including China’s Ministry of Science and Technology and the Chinese Academy of Engineering, the forum has focused on key themes such as engineering education, the core competencies of engineers, and the importance of international recognition.
Discussions have also delved into continuing professional development and technological innovation in crucial sectors like rail transit, carbon-zero engineering, and energy systems.
Throughout the event, participants have engaged in lively keynote sessions, round-table discussions, and high-level dialogues, fostering a spirit of openness and cooperation.
One of the forum’s notable goals is to encourage the establishment of an International Federation of Engineering Societies for the Belt and Road, aiming to create stronger ties across engineering communities.
