24 July 2025 09:01

An official reception was held in Baku on July 23 to commemorate the 73rd anniversary of the July Revolution, the national holiday of the Arab Republic of Egypt.

According to domestic press, the event commenced with the national anthems of Azerbaijan and Egypt, setting the tone for the evening's celebration, Caliber.Az reports.

Doaa Abdelazim Ahmed Shehata, Egypt’s chargé d’affaires in Azerbaijan, addressed the gathering and expressed his appreciation for the opportunity to celebrate Egypt’s National Day on the soil of a friendly nation. He highlighted the dynamic development of Azerbaijani-Egyptian relations in recent years, noting that high-level visits and meetings between the heads of state have played a key role in deepening cooperation across various fields.

The Egyptian diplomat underlined that Egypt and Azerbaijan maintain shared perspectives on a range of regional and international matters, and continue to cooperate successfully within multilateral platforms such as the Non-Aligned Movement and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation. He extended his gratitude to Azerbaijan for supporting Egypt’s candidacy for the position of Director-General of UNESCO, describing this backing as a clear demonstration of the enduring friendship between the two nations.

Doaa Abdelazim also expressed confidence in the successful organization of the upcoming 13th session of the World Forum of Cities, to be hosted by Azerbaijan, and affirmed Egypt’s willingness to support the event.

Speaking at the reception, Minister of Digital Development and Transport of Azerbaijan Rashad Nabiyev congratulated the Egyptian people on the occasion and praised the strong and friendly relations between the two countries. He noted that 2025 marks the 33rd anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Azerbaijan and Egypt.

Minister Nabiyev emphasised that economic cooperation between the two countries is experiencing positive growth trends. He noted a significant increase in trade turnover during the first half of this year compared to the same period last year.

Highlighting the substantial potential for cooperation in the field of transport and logistics, Nabiyev pointed out that the international transport corridors running through Azerbaijan have expanded opportunities for the movement of goods between Egypt, Central Asia, and China in both directions.

The reception concluded with the screening of a video presentation showcasing Egypt’s rich history, vibrant culture, diverse tourism potential, and achievements in modern development.
