The technical session of the 29th General Assembly of the Intra-European Organisation of Tax Administrations (IOTA) has wrapped up in Baku, featuring extensive dialogue on modernising tax systems in a rapidly evolving global environment.
According to the State Tax Service of Azerbaijan, the session was held under the theme “Adaptive and Agile Tax Administration in a Rapidly Changing Environment”, Caliber.Az reports via local media.
Participants presented forward-looking strategies and shared international best practices for implementing flexible and responsive tax administration models.
Delegates from a wide range of countries — including Azerbaijan, Poland, Latvia, Türkiye, Greece, and the United Kingdom — delivered presentations highlighting how digital technologies, innovative governance, and user-centric services are reshaping their national tax systems.
Many speakers showcased real-world reforms based on agile and design-driven approaches tailored to evolving taxpayer needs.
Speaking at the closing ceremony, Orkhan Nazarli, Head of the State Tax Service of Azerbaijan, noted that the assembly served as a platform for presenting concrete examples of developing adaptable strategies for sustainable progress. He also emphasised the importance of nurturing leadership, building human capital, and transforming tax administration through modern management models.
Throughout the event, parallel sessions facilitated rich exchanges of experience, covering everything from user-focused service design to the practical application of Agile methodology and Design Thinking principles. These discussions, according to organisers, have laid a strong foundation for continued collaboration among IOTA member countries.
